(If you follow that link, TW for rape and violence)
If you follow that link you can find the whole article. It is fantastic and pretty much sums up my feelings of the sex positive movement especially when it comes to prostitution. What angers me is that this is modern day slavery. That is what sex work is. Slavery. People are bought, they are sold and it is a small minority of men and women who choose that line of work- the majority are forced into it by circumstance and then sold to the highest bidder, abused and trafficked. When you are arguing for it to be legalised and regulated you are arguing that slavery be legalised and regulated. You are doing nothing to support the majority of people within this system, you are actually making it worse. You are pushing for the legal objectification and abuse of men, women and children. Yes, children. We must tackle the poverty that forces people into those situations and shut down every single pimp and trafficker, not endorse it. Sex work is not empowering to anyone and if you think it is? Please go and say that to one of the men, women or children who are systematically abused and treated like objects. In fact, stop your rhetoric and listen to what people who have escaped and survived this system have to say for themselves.
